England continued their unorthodox methods as they steamrolled New Zealand in New Zealand, which is often seen as a tough task with the wickets highly favoring seam bowlers. England, with their aggressive style of play though has shown that positive cricket can be a good way to counter the extravagant movement which is often found in New Zealand.
Date: February 24th 2023
Time: 3:30 AM IST
Venue: Wellington
Overcast mornings are expected with the weather likely to remain dry throughout the test.
A green track with a lot of swing is expected. With some early moisture likely, bowling first will be a better option.
Played- 111 | England -52 | New Zealand- 12 | Draw-46 | Tie- 0
Devon Conway, Will Young, Kane Williamson, Henry Nicholls, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Tom Blundell, Michael Bracewell, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Jacob Duffy
Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Ben Foakes, Ollie Robinson, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, James Anderson
Tom Blundell down the order has been providing some gems for New Zealand in the last year. Along with Daryl Mitchell he has helped provide some crucial knocks which often turn out to be the difference between a decent score and a really good one, with his ability to mentally tire out bowling attacks.
Stuart Broad is back after missing out on the Pakistan tour. His bowling has been under some scrutiny despite his comeback, and with swinging conditions on offer Broad will want to prove that he still has a lot to offer in this English unit.
New Zealand are a side that are nearly unbeatable at home. However, with the way Bazball has been proving sides wrong, there could be a case for England here. They were successful in Pakistan too and with the way they are playing they could spring some surprises here too.
