Sri Lanka versus Australia second Test 2022: As the series is a part of the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle, Australia have taken a decent lead in the points tally with the dominance in the first match.

Sri Lanka endured a terrible defeat in the first match of their two-sided Test series against Australia. The Islanders will step into a similar setting, Galle International Stadium for the second match which is beginning from 8 July onwards. The Dimuth Karunaratne-led side will eye to even out the series while the Aussies are expecting a simple series clear.

The past experience was only a one-sided affair. The home crowd saw a batting breakdown as the Sri Lankan players couldn’t find any defence against the Nathan Lyon-led bowling attack.. Sri Lanka posted 212 and 113 in both of their innings prompting a comfortable victory for the guests.

Usman Khawaja and Camero Green fuelled Australia to put up a difficult all out 321 runs in the first innings. The chase in the fourth innings was only a simple formality as they required just 10 runs to secure the triumph with two days left to spare.

As the series is a piece of the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle, Australia have taken a decent lead on the point count with the dominance in the main match. They haven’t lost a solitary Test during the continuous cycle and are 24 focussed in front of South Africa (60 pts) who are put at the second spot. Then again, Sri Lanka are as yet remaining in sixth spot with 40 places in their grasp.
