T20 World Cup’22, IND vs PAK: India 163 for 6 (Kohli 82*, Hardik 40) beat Pakistan 159 for 8 (Masood 52*, Iftikhar 51, Arshdeep 3-32, Hardik 3-30) by four wickets
Needless to say all of us had our hearts caught in our throat during this match. Today Virat Kohli proved once again why he is fit as King Kohli!
Virat Kohli is not just a man, he is a sensation. This is why he lifts the entire world whenever he steps out to bat or, at the very least, approximately one billion of its inhabitants.
One of India’s greatest players put on an innings that may have been their best ever in T20 cricket on a day when the MCG was only open to the extraordinary. It has to be because they prevailed in the end. He was moved to tears by it.
India needed 48 runs going into the final three overs.
On top of that, they were up against a bowling attack that was using every bit of venom they could on a pitch with terrifying pace and fiery bounce. Haris Rauf was more of a lightning bolt than a human being. Pakistan was brought back into this chaotic game by him. He naturally had to leave.
Kohli batted at a level that shouldn’t have been possible all night, like an English alphabet letter 27. It seemed absurd. Similar to his two sixes in the 19th over. The first was a slower ball about a length back that was rising above his waist. If his willpower actually defied the laws of physics, he could only have hit it straight over the bowler’s head.
When the ball has no pace and was intended to get big on you, how can you clear the largest cricket ground in the world? How?! An equation that stated 16 off six balls out of 28 out of eight. In addition, chaos persisted. Spin was required for this match to be so great. Anyone who could not keep up with the ball was being taken out. When Mohammad Nawaz advanced for the final over, he was aware that he would suffer the same fate.
He got off to a good start, taking out Hardik Pandya, but when he ran into the unstoppable force of the day, everything changed. Kohli signalled for a no-ball long before Nawaz was launched over that enormous square-leg boundary. That did not please Pakistan. The umpires and Babar Azam had a long, lively, and passionate conversation. But in the end, India won the extra ball because it was a full toss just above waist height.
Additionally, Nawaz used a free hit to break Kohli’s stumps, but it didn’t matter. A free hit cannot result in a wicket. And Kohli just scored three runs as the ball bounced away. After the ball hit the stumps, they thought it should have been dead, but the umpires disagreed once more. Rod Tucker said his goodbyes.
Kohli was at the end of the non-strikers for India, which needed two off one. Dinesh Karthik, on the other hand, was perplexed somewhere in the midst of all of this. With R Ashwin on strike, two off one. Nawaz came running in and bowled a wide leg side.
One of the smartest players in the game, Ashwin just sidestepped that ball and then chipped the ball over mid-off with one needed off one. The next sound the world heard was the expressions of 90,238 people at the MCG and the screams of countless millions more at home.

With the last hit of the ball the stadium froze with anticipation as the ball revved away from the hands of the rivals, the crowd went wild. IND-PAK matches are personal and not for weak hearts. This was a table-turning win for India and a strong comeback for King Kohli!
